To protect the health and life of people from the special risk group, the PETRALANA Foundation resumes the project to help seniors in shopping. In its first edition, in the spring of this year, together with the Municipal Family Support Center in Bytom, it completed over 300 purchases for the elderly.
From now on, the inhabitants of Bytom can again take advantage of the help in shopping, which is jointly organized by the PETRALANA Foundation and the Municipal Family Support Center in Bytom. The assistance is addressed to residents who are over 65, live alone or with a disabled person, as well as chronically ill.
This is a project that worked great this spring, so the operating model remains the same. The Municipal Family Support Center in Bytom will accept applications from seniors and then transfer them to volunteers of the PETRALANA Foundation for implementation. They will go to the indicated addresses to make purchases for the entrusted cash – explains Tomasz Greczkowicz, one of the founders of the Foundation and the originator of the „Help for seniors” campaign.
The spring, first edition of the project lasted 3 months and involved 18 volunteers who made 300 purchases for 70 seniors. In total, it is as much as 3 tons of delivered goods!
